Why Manchester United will still be a threat without Ronaldo

I might be going overboard with all the pre season hype and be forced to eat my words later, but eh what the heck.

So after all the hype about how Ronaldo (I still havent gotten around to calling him slave) made the club richer, and how SAF seems to be stuffing all the money down a deep dark hole somewhere (insert cartoon of old man with sack here), I still think we have a pretty good shot at the title this year. Why, you ask?

1. Owen seems to be looking good, and (I pray to thee O Lord) able to play more than one game in a month. And of course, there is no doubt about the fact that he is a good striker, when hes not on the bench nursing one of his innumerable injuries.
2. Ronaldo replacement Antonio Valencia has given a good account of himself, and looks set to be able to meet right flank requirements.
3. Berba seems to be running a lot more than last year.
4. Giggs (incredibly) seems to have another year of soccer up his sleeve (or wherever hes getting all that energy from)
5. Rooney is still God.
6. Gibson and Carrick seem to be forming a good partnership in midfield.
7. Anderson has scored. Yay!
8. Nani is still pissed at being left on the bench.
9. The kids ie Tosic, Macheda, the Rafael twins, Evans, Cleverly (whos that you ask?) seem to be well fed and in their nappies. Ok I was a little strong on that, they seem to be decent players, and ready to put in real strong contributions.
10. Liverpool will still shoot themselves in the foot, and Rafa will pull the trigger.
11. Arsenal is phhhbbbtt.
12. Chelsea is, well, Chelsea.
13. And We Are United, and we value the badge more than the player. Which Real Madrid doesnt seem to understand anyway.

This Sundays Charity shield with Chelsea should be a cracker.

Edit:
14. Manchester Citeh must die. I mean seriously, they will be in the top 4 this season (tries hard to keep a straight face, and fails) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Nicely put into words what every ManU fan hopes this season….but I dont see the 19th tite or any hope in Europe until Fergi kicks out Park….everyones knows he is 2nd division standard still he is there bcoz of business demands, Park and Anderon shud be put into reserves at once….also no playmaker in the team

as of opponents, I hope Shitty develops a new bunch of fans in the hall, rubbing their noses in the defeats wud be too good 😛

I doubt who’s gonna score 25+ goals in ManUtd’s current lineup. Sure Ronnie was well fed by teammates but there were many moments of solo genius of his which did rescue manutd.

And as for Liverpool, Aquilani seems to be good enough to handle midfield. All Liverpool needs to do, for one damn season, is keep torres and gerrard both fit and SAF’s dream of perch-knocking dream will die.

    DIE.

    Manchester United

    Goal Keeper:
With van der Saar holding onto balls & Ben Foster in the reserves …
    Goalie – 8/10

    Back line:
    Brown – Vidic – Ferdinand – Evra
O’Shea & Evans on the bench
(btw, Gary Neville excluded by choice)
    Defence – 9/10

    Midfield:
Valencia & Giggs down the flanks?
you STILL banking on Giggs ? … with all due respect, Ryan is seasons past being a regular substitute!
Carrick, Gibson, Fletcher, new signing Obertan … & !Anderson! n yeah, the good ol’ Scholes!

eh … well, still not a picture perfect …
    Far from it!

ManUtd had be dearly missing Hargreaves this season.
    Mid field – 6/10

    Frontline:
    Rooney …
finally gets to play central … and playing the second fiddle this season! – He totally deserves it … yay!

    Owen …
a smooth finisher … had been one of the most reliable strikers around, in his prime.
but then, finds himself on the stretcher as often as the ball finds the net.

    Berbatrov …
Last season was a disaster … understandably!
being one of the Fab 4, he never got enough of the spots or the spot-kicks … expect to see more of him this season

    and there’s Macheda … ManUtd’s Bojan Krkic.
    always around to fill in.
    Frontline – 7/10

How much is ManUtd gonna miss C.Ronaldo?
Irrespective of what Fergie might say, it is a fact that most of ManUtd’s game last coupla seasons revolved round Ronaldo. The midfield was playing to shoe-feed him … Rooney volunteered outta his comfort zone to accommodate the ‘big ego’ … The team seemed comfortable only when Ronaldo ran down the flanks (or faked dives)

so irrespective of what ManUtd’s fans wish to believe, this season is not just about one 25+ player off the roster …
Identify a fresh focal point and amend their approach accordingly
or switch back to the stratagem of distribution of ‘power and cover’
Neither is gonna be an easy adaptation.

    and conclusively,
    with a mid-field as ManUtd’s …
    phew!
    Champions League … Dream On!
& EPL … Chelsea is, well, Chelsea. 😉
